Course Schedule: The course begins on Monday, August 21, 2017 and ends on Monday, May 7, 2018, when students take the AP Chemistry Exam. My school calendar shows the dates that the course is in session as well as scheduled breaks.

Who Should Apply: This class is open to 9th through 12th grade students who have completed one year of high-school level chemistry and Algebra II including logarithms. Students must be self-disciplined, well organized, and ready to commit a minimum of 10 – 12 hours a week for the course, not including lab work. Note: The first-year chemistry requirement can be waived for students who have exceptionally strong math skills and the ability to apply math to solve complex problems.
A chemistry course that does not have a live lab component cannot use the AP® designation on a grade transcript. I have developed a lab program with specially tailored "live" labs for AP® Chemistry. These labs use a customized kit produced by Quality Science Labs for my course. The labs are designed for homeschool use and have been approved by the College Board. Each experiment has complete instructions with sample data and calculations. Students use tools such as graphing programs and spreadsheets to analyze data. There is a corresponding assessment tool where students enter their data online to evaluate their results. Students keep a lab notebook to record their experiments and their entries must adhere to standard protocols for a college level chemistry lab notebook.
